Deputy President Ramaphosa pays tribute to Aspen

An Aspen Pharmacare initiative

On 16 April 2016 Aspen hosted the Deputy President of South Africa, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa and Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi at its flagship manufacturing facility in Port Elizabeth.

This rare visit provided an opportunity to showcase our capabilities and technologies as a leading supplier of medicines in the Southern hemisphere. The visit strengthened the collaboration between Aspen and the South African Government and allowed the two to further explore home grown solution to the many healthcare challenges that face South Africa and many of the markets that Aspen supplies products to.

After a visit of the Oral Solid Dose and SVP facilities, the Deputy President and Minister had the opportunity to meet with the staff who manufacture our products. The Deputy President expressed the South African Government’s appreciation for the role that Aspen and its employees play in society and commended them for their contribution to the economy and for the manufacturing of affordable quality medicines that save many millions of lives every year.

Also present at the visit was CEO of Proudly South Africa, Advocate Leslie Sedibe who commended Aspen for its continual investment in local manufacture and its programme of skills development, which made Aspen one of South Africa’s flagship companies.
